What is the Best of US?

Johnsonville is engaging the nation to help us identify individuals, groups and events that reflect the spirit of America. We call them the “Best of US." Through this program, we are dedicated to illuminating and celebrating the values that make America great.

Why is Johnsonville leading this program?

At Johnsonville, our unique culture and ideals are reflected in how the company engages with its members, customers, consumers and communities. We take pride in our core principles and can't think of a better way to celebrate them than by recognizing other individuals and groups who embody them across the nation.

How did Johnsonville decide to highlight volunteer firefighters for the Best of US program? Will any other group be recognized? Will this be an ongoing program?

We're highlighting volunteer fire deparments because they are the everyday heroes who lead by example with their commitment to communities and help keeping them safe without asking for anything in return. While the current focus is on volunteer fire departments, the Best of US is intended to be a long-term program that recognizes additional individuals, groups and events in the future.

Is the Best of US limited to small towns or are volunteer fire departments from my urban communities considered?

We called on all corners of America to help us identify the Best of US. We wanted to hear from all Americans, whether they were from a town of 100 or living in one of our nation's great metropolitan areas.

When does voting begin?

Voting began May 20, and ended at 11:59 p.m. ET on June 20, 2014.
